What is Ignite?
  Ignite is HMS’ show choir. A show choir is a group of singers that perform pop, rock, musical theatre music with aerobic style choreography. Participation in Ignite is the perfect experience for students interested in giving dynamic performances, singing various music styles, improving their dancing and singing skills, and making new friends throughout the choir program. This is also great preparation for BHS’ show choir, Breakaway. 
Who can join?
  Students are placed in the group by an audition:

•  Any 6th/7th grade choir student can audition. 
• Students who make the group must be able to be at rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:50pm-5:30pm. 
• ​Students who make the group are also expected to maintain a passing grade in all classes so they can leave school for tours and performances. 
• Student athletes can still participate in Ignite. The head coaches and I are working together to make sure all athletes can still be involved. 

Auditions?
There are two parts to the Ignite Auditions: a singing and a dance audition.
Singing Audition:

• Students sing 1 minute of a pop, musical theatre, or rock song of their choice:
  • ​Songs must be appropriate.
  • Students must find a karaoke or instrumental track on Youtube.
  • ​​The song must be upbeat.

Dance Audition:

• Miss Thomas has recorded the dance for the audition. Students can learn the dance from that video. Links to the videos are below

There will be an Audition Workshop on Tuesday, April 26th from 3:50pm-5:00pm in the choir room where you can get help learning the dance or have access to a practice room to practice your song.

Auditions will take place after school on April 28th.
